no more iaTV in SF?!...

On October 31, ImaginAsian TV, the first 24/7 Asian American TV network, is going off the air in San Francisco.

The SF community has the power to change this. Asian Americans deserve a choice of media, but we need to take action.

Here's what I'm trying to get the word out about:

1.	Call Comcast SF toll free at 1-800-945-2288 to request ImaginAsian TV as part of their channel lineup.

2.	Write a letter of support for iaTV and send it to Comcast: http://www.comcast.com/ContactUs/CustomerService.asp. You can use our sample letter (http://www.iatv.tv/getiatv/sample_letter.php) or write your own.

3.	Send us a copy of your letter with our online form: http://www.iatv.tv/getiatv/form_letter.php. We will present all amassed letters to Comcast.

4.	Spread the word and pass this email on - http://www.iatv.tv/getiatv/tellafriend.php

For more info about the campaign and how you can help, visit http://www.iatv.tv/getiatv/inthebay.php.

Thanks a million.

Ray

Dirty Martini...

I had dinner at PJ's on Irving this past weekend and the Dirty Martini I had was soooo smooth. I wanted to go for the sapphire, but I had a sip of my friend's grey goose and I was hooked!! So smooth and tasty. It's been a while since I've had one that good. To finish it up I had my first peach cosmo.

But on another note...what is up with men who drink the girlie drinks? For me as awesome as it would be to share a cosmo with someone, ulitimately I'd freak if a guy ordered two cosmos (unless they are both for me).

Come on guys...please do explain this phenomenom.

Casting Call: Get drunk (for free!) and famous (well, maybe)!

Reply to: drunk@drunkthemovie.com

Want to get drunk for free and talk to us about your life while being filmed? Do you consider yourself interesting/funny/crazy? Are you unabashed about seeing yourself get more than a little loose on the big screen?

Two local, independent producers are looking for approximately 20 interesting folks in the SF Bay Area for our humorous documentary chronicling the effects of alcohol on personality.

Here's how it works:

You come to us and sit down in a chair. We provide you with your poison of choice and for up to three hours we record your progress from sober to as drunk as you would like to get. We'll buy you enough of the wine, spirits or beer you need to accomplish this (below the threshold of human toxicity, of course!). Expensive wine drinkers please take note: our spending limit is $50 per person.

The shoot will be indoors, at a home business location in San Francisco. For your own comfort, you may bring a friend to the shoot. During the course of the shoot, we will ask you questions about yourself. These questions range from the mundane and ordinary to the type you might see in a colorful online personality test. You of course have the discretion to answer only the questions you see fit. You may also appear in the movie under a pseudonym. This will be a conversation, geared toward the study of how behavior changes with alcohol. At the end of the shoot, if you do not already have a ride, a member of the crew will drive you home.

We are looking to get this movie into the 2005 festival circuit, or even possibly onto MTV or HBO.

We will be hosting several group "Meet-and-Greets" during the first two weeks of October at a San Francisco pub. At the gatherings, you will meet the producers, Rachel and Sean, fill out a simple form telling us a bit more about yourself, and participate in short interviews. We wish to be certain we are gathering a diverse group of fun and fascinating people, and we want you to see that we are not a bunch of insane pornographers.

The shoots will take place during 6pm and 9pm time slots during the month of November. Appearance dates will be scheduled during October with the individuals chosen from the Meet-and-Greets.

To participate, you must:

- be over 21, with valid photo I.D.

- sign an appearance release form

If this sounds like fun, send us an email and tell us a little bit about yourself and why you want to be in this film. We will email you back with the location and dates of the Meet-and-Greets.

We look forward to hearing from you!!

Sean and Rachel

Immigrants, refugees and transplants - I need your stories!

Hi there, name's Cristina, I'm a Romanian immigrant living in the US. I've been here 7 years. Identity struggles? Yes. Confusion and missunderstandings? Yes. Trouble adjusting sometimes? Yes. But things can be talked out, talked through and talked over. I need your stories. Stories heal. And change lives. Go to www.sentimentalrefugee.com and send me yours.

I also need superstitions, folklore and myths from your culture. That's the ground zero of our humanity. Every culture has dragons. Every culture wards off the "bad spirits". But not in the same way. www.cafepress.com/superstitions has a few, but we need more. Send us ideas and traditions from your culture. If we use them (as in draw pictures, create products based on your thoughts) we'll give you 10% of the profits for each product that was created based on your idea. If you send us a cool graphic that we use, we'll give you 20%. Check it out.

Thanks!
